Sikhs fought in World War 1 and 2 and because they fought in both wars, they got awarded medals by the king. The medals which I have got are called the 1939-1945 Star.
Because of their bravery in the world wars there are now Sikh regiments and there are Sikh soldiers all over Britain. I am proud to be a British Asian and am proud that Sikhs fought in World War Two. My father is interested in Sikh regimental history and these medals are part of his collection.
Prince Charles is especially fond of Sikhs and invited some to the Royal Albert Hall to have a chat. One of those Sikhs was my dad.
