Elgar's Trombone

Sue Addison, the lead trombonist in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment brought in this trombone which she has on loan for a series of concerts. Elgar took up the trombone in his 40s, but was never very good at it. He donated the trombone to the YMCA in 1918 for use by soldiers who were at the front in the First World War, and then it was subsequently donated to the Royal College of Music.
