Pin holder

This is a commerative pin holder belongs to Ros Watson and is for Princess Charlotte, only child of the future King George IV and Caroline of Brunswick. her grandfather was George III 'mad King George'.

Her father became Regent in 1810 when George became unfit to rule. Charlotte married Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfield and died on 6 November 1816 after giving birth to a stillborn son, her labour lasten 50 hours and her obstetrician committed suicide. He was criticised for not having used forceps, which might have saved mother and child.

Princess Charlotte was mourned nationall rather like Princess Diana and she is buried in St George's Chapel, Windsor.
