Percy Catton, Grandfather of Jonathan Catton, received the medal for regular attendance at the West Thurrock National School. Percy was the first member of the Catton family to be born in Thurrock, and he gave the medal to Jonathan during the 1960s, before he passed away. It is the first historical family object to be given to Jonathan and it has stimulated his interest in history. Jonathan went on to be a museum curator at Thurrock Museum.
