The punch and the ticket system were first used on the horse drawn buses and trams in the 1890s. They were used until about the 1960s. They were then replaced by the ticket printing machines.
The money bag was used to collect the money in.
It makes us think about the early days of public transport. Public transport was first used in towns and cities.
Public transport meant that people could start travelling further to find work and for pleasure. It also meant people living in the countryside could go to their local market town for shopping.
Before the days of public transport people had to walk or go by horse everywhere.
(This ticket system was used by a local bus company, which still has connections with the school.
