Community Quilt: 'What is Mission?'

This community quilt was started in St Louis, Missouri in April 2010 and then added to in Edinburgh in June 2010. More squares will be added at the National Council of Churches in New Orleans in November 2010.

The idea behind the community quilt is to give to women working in mission at grassroots level the opportunity to define 'mission'. They produce an alternative body of understanding of what mission means from their local contexts. It is a woman's way of expressing what her mission work means to her and to the world.

Some of the quotes written are:

"Connecting with sisters of faith to create a better world for everyone."

"Faith, Hope, Love in Action."

"May we learn to care for your creation, O God, as you care for creation."

"Share the life-changing love of Jesus Christ."
