Gin filled miniature Blue Delft house

BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Rob Dunger has chosen something which reminds him of the high life.

"A part of history which, in hindsight, was important to me was the late 1970s and early 1980s. I consider it to be The Age Of Decadence, where money wasn't the first consideration in life. In fact money was a lot easier to make and to spend.

"At that time I was a wholesaler shipping huge amounts of flowers and plants from the Netherlands to the UK. Although a complete luxury item, flowers were big money then. It meant hours of driving and many hours without sleep.

"Hard work meant hard play too. Consequently after the Christmas rush my main priority was holiday and sun. Living in Holland, I was able to negotiate good deals with the Dutch National Airline KLM for journeys to Mexico, the United States and South America.

"One perk about flying KLM 1st class was that each passenger was presented with a miniature Blue Delft house filled with Dutch Gin. With two people travelling regularly I soon built up a fair collection. Looking back it was decadent, maybe obscene, but just seeing my collection 30 years on will still transport me back to those days."
