Jowett was a car manufacturing company in Bradford from 1906 to 1954. The company was founded by brothers Benjamin and William Jowett.
The 'Bradford' Jowett range was manufactured from 1946 to 1953. There were three styles; the van, the estate car and the pick up.
The Bradford Pick Up was manufactured in 1951 and was a popular choice due to the low purchase cost and how economical and easy to fix it was.
The Pick Up was a popular choice abroad in countries like Australia where they liked this style.
The Bradford range was classed as the "workhorse" as it was such a dependable vehicle. It was recorded in 1948 that one in Canada had covered 150,000 miles with minimum maintenance.
