Roy Charlton from Colchester brought this item along to the BBC bus. Laura McLean, from the Portable Antiqities Scheme in Essex, has identified it as an iron age quarter stater, which is a pre-Roman Britain coin. It shows a tiny figure of a horse on one side and the remains of a laurel wreath, similar to those worn by Roman Emperors, on the other side.
