This marvellous portrait shows one of the Scottish Colourists at the peak of his powers. Painted around 1915 and entitled 'Crème de Menthe' it is by Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell, 1883-1937 one of Scotland's greatest artists. The painting was acquired for the McLean Museum by the Stuart Anderson Caird Bequest in 1948. S.A. Caird was a member of a distinguished local shipbuilding family who contributed many items to the McLean Museum.
