This a statue of St. George slaying the dragon at his feet. St. Mary's Church, originally commissioned in 1870 by the Marquess of Ripon, is adorned by statues of Knights, Monarchs and Religious figures. The church itself was designed by William Burges, who was an expert in Medieval art and Christian iconography. Burges originally designed the church in a Gothic-Victorian style.
