Aero Broadcast Seed Sower D.L.K

The seed sower was bought about 1945 from North Devon Farmers, which was an agricultural merchant in Bideford. It was bought for sowing grass seeds at Holwell Farm, Clovelly; part of the Clovelly Estate. It was also used to plant neighbours' fields.
It would take 2-3 hours to sow an acre of ground, depending on the walking speed of the operator. The cane would need oiling every time the box was re-filled with seeds. It was called a 'fiddle' because of its similarity to a musical fiddle.
The arm movement had to be in unison with each step to get the correct seed ratio.
There was a screw adjustment for the seed flow.
