Handwritten Cookery Book made in Suffolk

Valerie Packer was given the handwritten book as a present and shared its story at the BBC Suffolk event at Ipswich Museum on Tuesday, 16 February, 2010.

Valerie has collected old cookery books for many years and was given this by her husband, who bought the item at an auction in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

The recipes are written with two different styles, believed to have been started by the mother and later completed by her daughter as a way of passing on their secrets.

Valerie says she finds the book very interesting, but doesn't always follow the recipes exactly.
