Radiohead at BBC Part 2
Radiohead play second exclusive BBC show
02 April 2008 - Radiohead played the second of their two concerts at the 300 capacity BBC Radio Theatre in London last night (1 April).Introduced by compere Mark Radcliffe as “A popular beat combo who’ll be playing some of their up-tempo hits” the group performed a 12 song set for an audience of clearly ecstatic competition winners.
While the afternoon set had drawn from the In Rainbows and Kid A albums, the evening show saw the band play tracks from OK Computer including Lucky, Air Bag and The Tourist.
Despite commenting that it had been “A very long day” Thom Yorke seemed relaxed and happy, switching between guitar, piano and Rhodes organ throughout the set.
Notably, long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich was present, overseeing the live and broadcast mix of the evening from the theatre’s control booth.
Highlights included a rapturously received versions of In Rainbows tracks House Of Cards and an enthusiastic take on Reckoner, and (despite a false start) Kid A fan favourite Everything In Its Right Place, which closed the set.
Singer Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood did however return with two acoustic guitars for an encore of Faust Arp.
You can see live shots from both shows, check out the band’s photo blog, listen to again to the set and download a free live version of Videotape on the Radiohead homepage on the 6 Music website here.
Also, there is a BBC web site dedicated to Radiohead.
