White on Stripes

Jack denies split with Meg
21 July 06 - Jack White has dismissed speculation about the future of the White Stripes.

The White Stripes frontman has been busy with his side project The Raconteurs, and had shown no signs of rushing back to the White Stripes. There was also talk of work starting on a second Raconteurs album.

But White has now spoken out, in an interview in The Independent. He said: "I've heard assumptions that I'm bored with the White Stripes, or that it's not fulfilling me, which is very much not true.

"I find the White Stripes extremely fulfilling. It's extremely challenging."

But White did admit that there is less pressure on him in his new job in the four-piece band, compared to playing with Meg White.

He said: "It's harder to be in the White Stripes than in this. I don't get to break for a second when the Stripes play live.

"But I do wish to dissuade people of the assumption that I've become bored with the White Stripes. And I would definitely admit if that was the case."

The Raconteurs release new single Hands on 31 July.
