| Sunday, 23 June, 2002, 11:12 GMT 12:12 UK More Millwall riot suspects filmed Another 100 suspects have been caught on film Pictures of ten more men suspected of rioting after a football match in south east London have been released by police. They are the first of 100 new pictures of people wanted after fighting at the Division One play-off match between Millwall and Birmimingham City on 2 May. It has taken more than 2,000 police hours to trawl CCTV footage of the riot around the New Den in Rotherhithe. Of the 300 police officers on duty that night, 127 were injured as were 16 police horses. 'Sickening' sight Police working on Operation Zampa, the Metropolitan Police's special investigations team set up to identify and prosecute those involved, have already released 50 pictures. This has led to more than 100 calls from the public and 21 men being charged.
The first man to be sentenced for the violence, Ian Harman, a 38-year-old roofer from Folkestone in Kent, was last week jailed for two years and banned from attending football games in the UK and abroad for ten years. Arrests so far have taken officers throughout London and the south east of England. "There is a wide age range amongst those arrested. Many are men with good jobs," said Mr Newman. Paving slabs "Most of them call themselves football fans, although not all had tickets for the game that night. "We have evidence that weapons such as flares and bottles were stored nearby. "Those who hadn't come prepared started picking up anything around them - paving slabs, bricks, anything. "They even ripped apart a children's playground in an effort to arm themselves."
