Award honour for Eastwood
Clint Eastwood has been named the 39th recipient of the Life Achievement Award from the Screen Actors' Guild.

The Oscar-winning actor will be presented with the award - for his "career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment" - at the 39th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday 9 March.

SAG president, Melissa Gilbert, said: "Clint Eastwood is truly a film icon, a celebrated star of international magnitude.

"His prolific career as an actor and filmmaker demonstrates a total command of the medium that has rightly earned him the admiration of his peers, the industry and the public."

Avril Lavigne, Creed, Nelly, and Puddle Of Mudd are the first artists confirmed to perform.

U2 unveil tower plan for new studio

U2 frontman Bono has launched a call to architects to design the band a new recording studio.

The studio will be at the top of a 60m tower in Dublin's docklands, overlooking the River Liffey.

The site is around the corner from U2's present studio, which they were unable to save at a planning hearing in January.

U2 will nominate a band member to sit on the panel examining architects' proposals for the tower, which should be built within three years.

Brawling Dawson's Creek star arrested

Joshua Jackson, who plays Pacey Witter in Dawson's Creek, has been arrested and charged with assaulting a security guard during a drunken brawl at a hockey match.

Jackson, 24, was arrested last Saturday after allegedly grabbing guard Drew Grissom, 40, around the neck and hitting him during the match in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Police said the actor was over the alcohol limit when tests were carried out in jail.

He was released on bail and is due to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge on 4 December.
