Admiral already has offices in Swansea |
One of Wales' largest employers is to open a second office at Swansea's SA1 waterfront, creating 119 jobs. The Admiral Group already employs 1,170 people in the city, along with a further 1,530 in Cardiff and Newport. It said it was part of a £2m investment in its business and will see it take space in the Ellipse building at SA1. Call centre staff in Swansea work for its new business, customer services and renewals departments, plus commercial vehicle insurance business Gladiator. It is the Gladiator arm of the group that will move into the new building, close to its existing base at Admiral Group House. Admiral said the new jobs would be across all its departments in Swansea and should be created over the next 18 months. Group facilities manager Huw Llewellyn said: "As a major employer in south Wales, and an investor in the Welsh economy, our expansion into the Ellipse building further reinforces our commitment to continual growth and to the city of Swansea." The expansion has been supported by the Welsh Assembly Government's Single Investment Fund. Admiral will share the Ellipse building with VOSA |
Economy Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "This is excellent news - Admiral Group is a highly successful Welsh-based financial services business. "In the last year alone it has grown by over 350 staff and has seen the addition of a new office in Newport. "It is very much a flagship operation for Wales with a track record of profitability and I am delighted to announce that the assembly government is supporting this latest expansion." The remainder of the Ellipse building is occupied by VOSA, which oversees MoT testing. Admiral Group is the only FTSE 100 listed company with its headquarters in Wales.
