On their last visit to Cardiff, Swansea fans had to travel by road |
Train operators have assured Swansea City football fans there will be a full service when they travel to Cardiff for the League One play-off final. Fans travelled by road to the Football League Trophy final at the Millennium Stadium last month as there were no trains because of engineering work.
But there will be extra train services for the 27 May final, which the Swans reached after beating Brentford.
The club will receive 32,452 tickets for final against Barnsley.
Around 25,000 fans travelled to the Millennium Stadium for last month's match against Carlisle and it is likely at least as many and probably more will make the journey for the play-off final.
An Arriva Trains spokeswoman said extra trains would run between Swansea and Cardiff.
Tickets for the special football trains will go on sale on 20 May and will only be available from Swansea station's booking office.
Peter Northcott, special events manager for Arriva Trains Wales, said: "As demand is likely to be extremely high, we are reminding fans to plan ahead."
No alcohol will be allowed on any train services between Swansea and Cardiff Central stations.
Ticket sales
The club was told on Tuesday it would receive 32,452 tickets for the game against Barnsley, who triumphed over Huddersfield to reach the final.
Season ticket holders and premier club members can buy tickets at 1000 BST on Wednesday, while the remaining tickets will go on general sale from 1000 BST on Sunday.
Trust members who are not season ticket holders can buy tickets from 1000 BST on Friday.
Swansea supporters have been allocated the south end of the stadium.
If Swansea win the match, it will be the first time they have been promoted to English football's second tier for more than 20 years.
