Be early, rugby fans urged
Stradey Park
Last Friday's kick-off was delayed because of the size of the crowd
Police and club officials are urging Llanelli Scarlets' fans to turn up early for the next big game at Stradey Park to avoid a repeat of last Friday when the game had to be delayed.

Both admit they were taken surprise by the size of the crowd when 10,185 supporters packed into the ground to watch the game against the Ospreys.

Roads leading to Stradey Park were gridlocked in all directions and police had to hold up the start of the game by 10 minutes to allow fans time to get into the ground.

While police say supporters were well behaved, they want to avoid a repeat when the Scarlets take on French side Agen in the Heineken Cup this Friday.

Club chief executive Stuart Gallacher has backed the plea.

He said: "There was very much a late rush last Friday.

"We sold 3,000 tickets on the day of the match which is huge and that, of course, did cause problems.

"The indications are that it is going to be very close to the same sized crowd this Friday."
