The couple are expecting congratulations on-email |
A Welsh wedding has been broadcast live over the internet so the bride's family and friends in America could join in the celebrations.. Swansea factory worker David Clement first made contact with his wife-to-be Morgan Jamie Dunbar over the internet.
Love blossomed as the couple kept in contact via their computer keyboards for six months - Mr Clement sat in his home at Pentrechwyth and Miss Dunbar at her terminal in Buffalo in the state of New York.
They first met face-to-face last Christmas in Swansea and three weeks ago they decided to tie the knot.
 | They had to get up early because it is five in the morning back at home |
The short notice meant the bride's mother and college friends were unable to make it to Swansea for her big day.
Because of the five hours time difference they all got out of bed early to watch the wedding which took place at Swansea Register Office at 1000BST on Friday.
'Spur of the moment'
Before the ceremony started the couple and their guests all waved to those watching via webcam on the other side of the Atlantic.
The new Mrs Clement, who is 18, is now expecting a flurry of congratulations via e-mail.
"They had to get up early because it is five in the morning back at home, " she said.
"I know my mum is watching and friends from college.
The webcam broadcast the couple exchanging rings |
"I never expected to meet my future husband over the internet.
"David is such a great guy and we really got on well, so we've decided to give it a shot."
Mr Clement, aged 26, said they were unaware of the option of the webcam at the register office when they were making plans for the ceremony.
"It was just a bonus really," he said.
"It was a spur of the moment thing when I proposed. Jamie came over and stayed with me last Christmas and I knew straight away that we were made for each other."
Swansea council's superintendent registrar Edith Morgan, who married the couple, said: "I think this is the first internet wedding I've been involved in."
