Hundreds cheer X Factor's Lucie

Hundreds of fans turned out to watch X Factor finalist Lucie Jones as she performed in Cardiff city centre.

The teenager from Pentyrch near Cardiff was cheered as she sang some of the songs that had made her such a hit on the music talent show.

Jones was voted off the programme on Sunday in favour of twins John and Edward Grimes after a controversial decision by judge Simon Cowell.

There were shouts of "I love Lucie" and "Down with Cowell" from the crowd.

Fans watching the open-air performance were critical of Cowell for his decision to turn to a public vote rather than casting a vote himself to keep Jones in the show.

Javeed Anwar said: "She's outstanding. I think she's been brilliant on X Factor - really, really good.

"Simon Cowell, oh dear. I think that was a huge mistake. I think everybody shares the same view really."

Amy Stedman, 22, said: "She shouldn't have gone out to John and Edward, that was a bad decision.

"She's shone the whole way through the audition process."

After her performance on Thursday morning, a queue of fans snaked its way behind the stage waiting patiently for Jones to sign autographs.

Jones said she was delighted so many people had taken time to watch her perform.
