Final plans to build Wales's tallest residential building have been submitted to planners. Bay Pointe Limited said the building would be part of a 500m residential development which would "transform" Cardiff Bay's skyline.
The developer hopes to build 10 buildings containing 2,400 apartments along the Bay and Ely river shoreline.
Among the buildings would be three high-rise towers, with the tallest rising to 41 storeys.
The company estimated that the project would create about 1,000 construction jobs.
Bay Pointe said the development would offer a range of accommodation, from studio to three-bed apartments, to cater for everyone from single professionals to families.
It said "high-quality" environmental schemes would be implemented in the plans.
More than 65% of the site would be dedicated to open space with the creation of a 6,880 sq m park and a 500 m (1,640 ft) footpath and cycleway.
The plans also include 2,843 sq m (30,500 sq ft) of "on-site amenities".
Chris Hamilton, managing director of Bay Pointe Limited, said it would be a world-class development that would not look out of place in Manhattan or London's Docklands.
"Furthermore the creation of neighbourhood shopping in our residential development will drive employment, cement the community and provide sustainable solutions to modern-day living," he said.
The company hopes to complete the project between 2014 - 2016.
