Goodbye Santa decorations, hello grand slam memorabilia |
A rugby fan has festooned his house with memorabilia of Wales' grand slam. Martin Lloyd, 37, from Tonyrefail, south Wales, has covered the walls inside and outside with plaques, banners, bunting, shirts and posters.
The idea came as he took down the Christmas decorations, and replaced them with 2005 grand slam memorabilia.
But his rugby passion is not shared by partner Nicola who said: "When I saw what he'd done, I just started laughing and thought he's totally mad."
Mr Lloyd's plaque prays for more bread of heaven for the Welsh XV |
"I was so chuffed when they won last year, I just hope they can do it again," said Mr Lloyd.
He has had a plaque made with the words "Please God let us win another grand slam" which is on display alongside the Welsh flag outside.
"I've decorated the house to show my support and hope that they can do it again this year," he said.
"I've collected loads of things from last year so I could put it up on the house.
Martin Lloyd's neighbours are in no doubt about his sporting taste |
"My partner thinks I am nuts and so do the neighbours - but I'm a real rugby fan.
"Last year, I knew that winning was in the pipeline but I couldn't believe it when they actually got the grand slam.
"I'd give anything for them to pull it off again," said the father-of-four who has passed on his rugby obsession to his 14-year-old daughter Leisha.
"It was amazing and I can't wait for this year's Six Nations," she said.
His partner, however, is less excited.
"I'm not into any sport, not even rugby," she said.
