An ex-rugby club owner was arrested after claims of a death threat against a Welsh Rugby Union lawyer, it has emerged. Leighton Samuel was released on bail and has strongly denied the claims.
Mr Samuel, 54, is suing the WRU over the collapse of the Celtic Warriors after regional rugby was reorganised.
He was arrested in connection with an allegation of a death threat made against solicitor John Morris. Mr Samuel said the claim was "incorrect".
Mr Samuel, who is also a prominent south Wales businessman, was interviewed by South Wales Police.
Mr Morris, 46, who is based in Cardiff, has confirmed that he reported Mr Samuel to the police in relation to what was said in a telephone conversation.
In a statement, Mr Samuel said: "I have been seen by South Wales Police and have given them a statement.
"I deny ever making a death threat - it is incorrect."
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that we have arrested a Bridgend man in relation to allegations made against him.
"We cannot say at this stage what they are - there are various allegations which we are investigating."
Mr Samuel was released on police bail while inquiries continue.
The Celtic Warriors were created by merging players from Bridgend and Pontypridd.
