The property has been boarded up following the closure order |
A house has been closed by police in Bettws, near Newport, as part of a national campaign against Class A drug dealers and drugs dens. It is the first house to be closed by police in the Gwent force area as part of Operation Crackdown.
The flat will be closed for three months and no-one will be able to enter the property during this time.
Newport Council was involved in the closure of the flat which was used for the unlawful use of Class A drugs.
The address, 7 Meon Close, has been boarded up as a result of the closure.

The closure order was issued after police gathered evidenceof drug use at the property.
Several raids had already taken place at the flat and neighbours provided hearsay evidence about noise and disruption, which police provided to magistrates in Blackwood who imposed the order.
Superintendent Roger Morgan said: "People gave us information about the drop of needles and sharps, about a constant stream of cars and people on foot visiting this premises. It was our way of thinking to obviously buy Class A drugs."
Police are looking at issuing similar closure orders at other properties in Bettws as part of the campaign.
The tenant, a 23-year-old woman, was not at home during the raid and police and council staff took an inventory and searched the property before boarding it up.
She will not be able to return to the address for three months but is still liable to pay the rent during that time.
Police have said they consider the woman as a "victim" and will offer her any help she may need and hope she will make a fresh start.
Supt Morgan added: "Closure order procedures will help to provide a remedy for dealing with anti-social behaviour arising from the use of premises in connection with Class A drugs."
