British roast meals on wheels
Roast beef dinner
Roast beef and Yorkshire pud remain a Sunday staple
The classic British Sunday roast usually means hours of peeling vegetables, meat carving and a mountain of washing up.

But for people living in Cardiff there is now an alternative, after what is thought to be one of the first British food takeaways opened up.

Traditional British meals are being offered for delivery in the city by a company called Ring-a-Roast.

Roast dinners with the trimmings are among the meals on the menu.

It is now competing against hundreds of other food delivery firms in the city.

But Rachel Morgan, who runs the business with her mother Sue Jones, said the unique menu was proving popular.

"It all started after a flippant remark from my dad," she said.

"My mother had taken him a dinner round and he said, 'You should deliver these,' and that was it.

"We've been thinking about it for the last seven years, but it's only just got up and running because I have had the children. And it has really taken off."

Sundays are the busiest day, with more than 100 meals delivered.

"People lead such busy lives these days that on a Sunday they just want to have a break," said Mrs Morgan.

"Everybody just wants a break and this way everyone can. This way no-one has to slave over a hot cooker to get their Sunday dinner."

Meals arrive in specially designed food trays and the firm even provides knives and forks so that no washing up is required at all.

"We offer dinners like granny used to cook and the response has been excellent."
