Crack cocaine was found inside the container |
A plastic container usually used to hold a child's toy inside a chocolate egg has been found filled with Class A drugs. Crack cocaine and heroin was found wrapped up in cellophane and foil inside the container. It has now been destroyed.
It was found in a garden of a property in the Broadmead Park area of Liswerry in Newport.
Police have issued a warning to parents to be vigilant about anything their child picks up in the street.
Sergeant Simon Clarke from Maindee police station in the city said: "These drugs had obviously been dropped or discarded without a thought of who might find them.
"There are lots of families with young children who live in this area and I would urge all parents to watch their children carefully.
"If a child had accidentally consumed even half of the drugs we found it would be lethal.
"I would also say to those who use or sell drugs to be careful of where you store them and please be mindful of the consequences if they got into the wrong hands," he added.
