Boyzone to kick off 'Bryn-fest'

Boyzone have reunited after splitting up eight years ago
Irish boy band Boyzone have announced they will open opera singer Bryn Terfel's annual music festival.

The band, which reunited after splitting eight years ago, will perform at the four-day Faenol festival near Caernarfon on August 22.

Terfel said it was a "real coup" to add them to the line-up of the event known as "Bryn-fest".

Boyzone follow in the steps of previous acts such as Westlife, Girls Aloud, Shirley Bassey and Andrea Bocelli.

"I know that fans will turn out in droves to welcome them" said Terfel.

"It's a real coup for us, as their tour dates are limited."

Boyzone, fronted by Ronan Keating, rose to fame in the 1990s with hits such as Father and Son and No Matter What.

They went their separate ways in 2000 - the same year as the first festival - but recently reunited for a tour.

Further details about the ninth annual Faenol Festival, which combines top names from the world of opera, musicals and pop, will be released shortly.
