Four walkers airlifted to safety
Helicopter over Snowdonia
The group was brought to safety by an RAF helicopter
A group of four walkers have been airlifted to safety after becoming lost on mountains in Snowdonia.

The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, North Wales Police helicopter and the RAF were called after the alarm was raised at about 1755 GMT on Wednesday.

The group, from Merseyside, got lost in darkness in the Devil's Kitchen area above the Ogwen Valley.

Two men, aged 62 and 49, and two women, aged 52 and 47, were lifted to safety by RAF helicopter at about 2200 GMT.

North Wales Police were alerted by a mobile phone call, but the signal cut out.

The location of the phone signal was traced and the force helicopter and Ogwen Valley mountain rescue team searched the area.

Later, the RAF rescue helicopter from Valley in Anglesey was also scrambled and was used to lift the group unharmed from the mountain.
