 Weather conditions in Snowdonia can be very treacherous |
Mountain rescuers have mounted two night-time operations in 24 hours to take walkers to safety in Snowdonia. The Llanberis team spent six hours on Friday rescuing a man who broke his ankle close to the summit of Glyder Fawr, near the Llanberis pass.
Rescuers had to be airlifted near to the scene in poor weather conditions and bring the man down on a stretcher.
In a second rescue on Saturday, they used a stretcher to bring down a doctor who had a recurrence of a back injury.
The Friday incident saw a 46-year-old man from Newcastle flown to hospital in Bangor by a helicopter from the RAF Valley base in Anglesey.
On Saturday, the doctor, aged 37, was rescued after he was unable to walk.
It happened as he descended along the Pyg track on Snowdon with a group.
He was given pain relief then taken to the accident and emergency department at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, where he used to work.
