Cabin workers hurt in landslide
Llyn Ogwen, Bethesda
Mud and water crushed the workmen's cabin
Four workmen were taken to hospital after their roadside cabin was crushed by a landslide in Gwynedd.

Three of the men suffered minor injuries and one a broken leg in the incident, which followed heavy rain and flooding near Llyn Ogwen, Bethesda.

Meanwhile across the rest of Wales, 28 flood warnings are currently in force.

Schools and roads have been closed and transport services disrupted because of heavy rain.

Emergency services were called to help the men swept away in the cabin as they had a teak break at around 1000 GMT on Tuesday.

"They were very lucky to get out alive," said their boss, Norman Richards of Gelli Civil Engineering.

The men had been constructing a new car park on the side of the road near Llyn Ogwen when mud and water crashed about 50ft down the mountainside behind their cabin.

Homes in Llangristiolus, Traeth Coch, near Benllech, Bethel, Amlwch, Llanerchymedd, Gaerwen, Rhostrehwfa, Rhosneigr and Menai Bridge have also been flooded.

Ten Gwynedd schools were closed because of rain overnight - most of them on the Lleyn Peninsula.

On the roads, the A499 at Penrhos near Pwllheli and the B4417 between Edern and Tudweiliog are shut and traffic from Botwnnog was being diverted through Nanhoron and Efailnewydd.

On Tuesday afternoon, trains were not running between Bangor and Holyhead because of a flooded track at Gaerwen in Anglesey, while the Conwy Valley branch line was blocked by floodwater south of Llanrwst.
