Ferry passenger search called off
P&O European Envoy
The usual route for P&O's European Envoy is Liverpool - Dublin
A major sea search for a lorry driver missing from a ferry which crossed from north Wales to Dublin has been called off.

Three north Wales lifeboats searched for the driver who sailed on P&O's European Envoy ferry from Mostyn at 2100 BST on Wednesday.

When the ferry arrived in Dublin on Thursday morning he was reported missing.

His lorry is still on board, while the Irish Garda have searched the ferry in Dublin.

The lifeboat teams from Holyhead, Moelfre and Llandudno returned to their stations after their search on Thursday morning.

They were supported by an Irish helicopter.

A coastguard spokeswoman said: "The ferry left Mostyn Docks just after 2100 BST last night and arrived at Dublin at around 0500 BST.

"Staff discovered a lorry driver was missing after he failed to pick up his vehicle.

"The vessel was searched and there was no sign of the missing man."

Coastguards said they were not yet aware of the nationality of the missing driver.
