The fire service says the blaze was started deliberately |
An arson investigation is under way after a mountain fire raged over a three mile area on Anglesey.
Firefighters battled overnight on Wednesday to bring the blaze on Holyhead mountain under control.
Fire crews were first called out at 1954 GMT on Wednesday and seven engines from Holyhead, Amlwch, Llangefni, Menai Bridge and Rhosneigr fought the blaze.
Police and coastguards also checked isolated homes to make sure people living in them were safe.
The fire was fanned by a strong wind and was brought under control early on Thursday morning but it was still smouldering.
A North Wales Fire Service spokeswoman said the fire was started deliberately.
North Wales Police and the fire service are investigating.
Fire crews were also called to another arson attack on Anglesey on Wednesday night. Four fire engines fought a fire at the Gaerwen industrial estate for almost five hours after waste and timber was set alight.
