JCB marks 30 years of business in Wrexham this year |
A total of 30 jobs have been lost at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham, the company has confirmed. The firm said it had reduced its workforce at its two Wrexham plants, blaming a "softening in demand for axles and transmissions". It said 22 employees took voluntary redundancy, five staff left, and there were three compulsory redundancies. The company, with a 30-year history in Wrexham, remains one of the town's biggest employers, with 550 staff. It said the decision on jobs had been made following a consultation period which started in February. The Wrexham plants make axles, gearboxes and engine components for JCB excavators and other machines.
