The work will bring a new road, as well as a boat storage area, wash-down facilities and a cycle route link.

Denbighshire County Council said the work was a significant step forward in Rhyl's ongoing regeneration.

Council leader Rhiannon Hughes said transforming the town would provide "major attractions for visitors to the area for many years to come."

The council also said the �3.8m transformation of Rhyl's promenade - called the Drift Park project - was expected to be completed shortly.

It will include five new themed gardens, a new water play area, open theatre, mini-golf, playground and garden.
