A male voice choir could compete for the Christmas number one after reaching the album chart's top 10. Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir are at number nine after their debut album Voices of the Valley became the chart's highest climber of the week.
If the album continues to rise, it could challenge established artists like U2 and Oasis for the Christmas number one.
The 60-strong choir, based near Llangollen, has an average age of 66.
They were signed by Daniel Glatman, manager of former boy band Blue, after he saw the choir performing at a wedding.
Their debut album entered the charts at number 13 two weeks ago.
On Sunday it was announced they had risen to number nine - the week's highest chart climber, and the only one to leap into the top 10.
The choir rehearses twice a week in their local school and has previously relied on members' wives baking cakes to raise funds.
Now, they are enjoying world-wide fame and have fan clubs as far afield as California.
Staff at Wrexham's Woolworth's store have been selling the albums straight from boxes - because people have been buying the album before it even hits the shelves.
The choir's story could also become a Hollywood movie, after a British producer optioned the film rights.
