Peters is planning a charity gig for the hospitals that helped him |
Singer Mike Peters has revealed he is in remission from leukaemia - and his wife is expecting their second child. The double celebration comes just eight months after Peters, 49, was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CCL), a cancer of white blood cells.
He now plans a charity concert to raise funds for Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodellwyddan, where he was treated for the disease.
The Alarm front man and wife Jules, 39, live in Dyserth, Denbighshire.
They have a two-year-old son, Dylan, but are now looking forward to a second child, due in January 2007.
The pair decided to wait until Jules had her 12-week scan before announcing the news of his remission.
'Miracle of life'
Peters told the Daily Post newspaper on Monday: "I've gone from one of the worst things that you can ever be told, to hearing the best news you can ever hear as a human being - that new life is on the way.
"If anybody had said to me in December that in six or seven months time I'd be in remission and I was going to be a dad again, I'd have said no chance.
"But it's the miracle of life once again."
Peters beat leukaemia 10 years ago, but was diagnosed with CCL in December 2005.

But now he is determined to stay healthy and stay in remission as long as possible.
He added: "I can't go back to doing huge tours. I'm in remission but I'm not cured.
"It's just got to be one-off concerts from now on.
"Now I'm in remission I've got plans to organise a charity event to put something back into the two hospitals where I was treated,. Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Gwynedd.
"The staff at both hospitals have been amazing and I want to thank them - that might involve a concert in north Wales to pay back the doctors, the nursing staff and everyone at the two hospitals for their help in rejuvenating me."
