Canoeist rescued by lifeboat crew
The canoe next to the lifeboat after the incident
The canoeist was 'very cold with hypothermia setting in'
A canoeist was taken to hospital with hypothemia after being rescued by a lifeboat crew on Thursday night.

The local man was out with another canoeist off Splash Point, Rhyl, when he fell out of his craft.

The Rhyl inshore lifeboat picked him up at 1945 BST and he was taken to a waiting ambulance, suffering from the effects of cold and with hypothermia setting in.

The second man was able to return to the shore unaided.

A lifeboat spokesman said the two men had the presence of mind to pull the two canoes together to enable the man in the sea to hold on and stay with his craft.
