Council suspends housing officer
Flintshire County Council sign
Flintshire County Council confirmed the suspension
A senior official with Flintshire County Council has been suspended from his job.

A spokesman for the local authority said the suspension, on full pay, followed "issues involving housing repairs."

It is believed the suspended officer is Steve Partner, the director of community and housing.

On Tuesday, Mr Partner was questioned about an overspend in the housing repair budget.

A 700,000 deficit is forecast in the housing maintenance department for the current financial year.

The authority is considering a series of cuts to reduce the overspend.

It is understood that the chief executive read a statement before a special meeting of the council's audit committee on Thursday, informing members that a senior officer had been suspended.

The meeting was then adjourned.

The council said it would appoint an independent person to carry out an investigation.

The council stressed that the suspension was a "neutral" act.
