A hotelier has paid �215 in an internet auction for a slice of royal wedding cake. John Davies, from Llangollen, plans to put the fruit cake from the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall on show.
The tiny slice is complete with a tin bearing the royal coat of arms and a certificate of authenticity.
It was put up for sale by a tenant of the Duchy of Cornwall - about 200 had received the memento of the wedding.
Mr Davies found out about the sale when he and his partner were on a visit to the Isles of Scilly and met one of the tenants. He offered �50 but was told it was already being sold on eBay.
"It will be a good talking point." he said. "We've already got a nice collection of memorabilia here... some Victorian bits and pieces and a rocking horse, so this will be an interesting addition to the collection.
"It might go mouldy in time, but I don't think it matters... I'm sure it will attract a lot of attention."
A spokeswoman at Clarence House confirmed that a number of Duchy tenants were given slices of cake but she declined to comment on the eBay sale.
