The family of a north Wales father and son killed alongside a friend in a late night car accident have paid tribute to the "popular" pair. David Echlin, 42, his 16-year-old son James and friend Richard Parry were killed in the crash on the A541 Mold to Wrexham road at Pontblyddyn last week.
Kay Echlin, wife of David and mother of James said they had a classic "father and son relationship".

Ms Echlin said David and James were well known in the Wrexham area having lived there all their lives.
"We are a close family. We've had some great times with much fun and laughter. They are going to be missed by so many people as they were so popular.
"Jimmy always took the mantle of his dad. He worshipped his dad and always wanted to be the best. There was a lot of banter but it was a classic father and son relationship," she added.
The three men had attended a social meeting of the Broughton and Bretton Motor Club, held every Thursday at the New Inn public house, Pontblyddyn when the accident happened.
Ms Echlin had been with her husband since she was 13. They had three other children, Louise, Hayley and Thomas.
She said the 42-year-old father-of-four was a keen fisherman and took great pride in gardening.
James Echlin "worshipped his dad" according to his mother |
"He was a real family man who was full of fun and had a fantastic sense of humour. He did everything for his children and always planned for his family's future."
Ms Echlin said her husband suffered a stroke seven years ago and he was determined to live his life to the full.
Mr Echlin was due to start a new job with Aerospace and James worked with his uncle as an apprentice tiler.
Ms Echlin and her children expressed their sympathy to the family of Richard Parry and his girlfriend Claire.
The funeral of David and James will be held at Pontblyddyn Church at 1230 GMT on Monday 24 January.
