Mike Henderson and Jade Davies will perform in Blackpool |
A Wrexham duo are heading towards the bright lights of Blackpool to audition for the seaside resort's circus. Knife balancer Mike Henderson and his 15-year-old assistant Jade Davies are competing against 14 other circus acts.
If successful, they will perform in front of 2,000 people at the town's famous tower.
Mike, from Penycae, nominated himself for the competition after responding to an advert and he has been practising ever since.
The pair's act includes Mike balancing on knives, acrobatics and juggling with knives.
Mike Henderson is worried about juggling the knives |
Mike said the knives are "very sharp and sometimes I balance on the handles... it looks dangerous".
The assistant manager at Plas Madoc Leisure Centre does street perfoming in his spare time.
Mike says he has also performed throughout the UK in holiday camps and theatres.
However, he admits he is not looking forward to the juggling part of the act,
"I'm not a juggler, I'm a balancer," he said.
Mike taught Jade the skill after his daughter gave up acrobatics.
Jade said it has been difficult to learn the skills.
"I couldn't do anything at the beginning, I couldn't do hand stands or anything so this is a big achievement for me," she said.
"I'm more sporty, I like football and netball but to do this is lovely."
The competition will take place on 19 July and they will find out if they have been successful two weeks later.
