Police want to speak to anyone with information on the attack |
Vandals have desecrated the grave of a woman buried recently at a north Wales church. They removed the urn, and scattered her ashes across the grass and onto a pavement outside Prestatyn Parish Church.
Her 72-year-old widower said he could not forgive those to blame.
"I am angered that someone can do such a thing," said the man, who did not wish to be named.
"I can show no forgiveness towards those responsible for this despicable act."
The discovery was made by the Reverend Clive Southerton on Saturday morning.
North Wales Police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
'Terrible act'
"Upon finding the desecrated grave I felt great anger that anyone could have done such a terrible act, although upon reflection I now feel deep sadness for the widower," said Mr Southerton.
"I have been in contact to offer him my deepest sympathies.
"I hope that those responsible are found and punished correctly.

"I would also like to offer my help to those responsible so I can attempt to understand why they committed such a terrible act," he added.
North Wales Police community beat manager Simon Newport told BBC Radio Wales that some of the dead woman's ashes ended up on a main road in the town.
He said: "The urn has been taken out of the grave and the ashes scattered all over the grave, some of them ending up on the high street of Prestatyn.
"The widower can show no forgiveness towards the people responsible.
"He is very deeply distressed that someone could do this to his wife's grave."
Mr Newport added that the church's adjoining community centre was vandalised on the same night, possibly by the same people who desecrated the grave.
