The former chapel is on the market for �575,000

The building, located on the Wynnstay Hall Estate in Ruabon near Wrexham, is expected to fetch �575,000.

Wynnstay Hall is the former principal seat of the Williams Wynn family.

The estate was sold and converted into a school in the mid 20th century and has since been redeveloped into a number of luxury homes and apartments - including the chapel.

"It doesn't feel chapel like at all from the inside, there's no religious motive at all," said current owner Kim Rehfeld-Thoden.

The chapel has been "tastefully" converted

"It's very interesting, it's an absolutely amazing architectural feature, it's a very contemporary conversion and it has a very modern feel.

"You have a magnificent interior space, by using good, clever conversions you can bring all the features to life."

The father-of-three has lived on the estate for just over 18 months but the family are looking to move because they need paddocks for their horses.

The Williams Wynn family were reported to be "one of the richest, most powerful and most profusely hospitable [families] in north Wales," according to estate agents Strutt and Parker.

The chapel was formed from a garden building, possibly an orangery, in the mid 18th century.

Following a fire in 1858 the building was converted into a chapel.

A spokesman for Strutt and Parker said there had been a good amount of interest in the property.
