Walking festival cashes in
Clwydian hills
Walkers are being urged to trek along the Clwydian hills
Tourism chiefs in Denbighshire are hoping to tap into the 550m spent on walking in Wales by launching a festival promoting the activity.

Clwyd West AM and Sport and Culture Minister Alun Pugh put his best foot forward on Tuesday, striding across the Clwydian Hills to show the benefits of a good stroll.

The three-day walking festival will be launched in Prestatyn on Friday.

"Activities such as walking are extremely important to the health and well being of the people of Wales," said Mr Pugh.

"It also provides an opportunity to bring visitors to enjoy spectacular parts of the country and helps boost the local economy."

The walking festival will also give people the opportunity to explore the Offa's Dyke path.

"With historic landscapes from coastal flats to heather-clad hills and an area of outstanding natural beauty, Denbighshire is well placed to benefit from this important market," said councillor Gwyneth Kensler.
