An annual harness racing festival, which attracts thousands of people from all over the UK to Ceredigion has been cancelled because of bad weather.
Tregaron Races, which was due to be held this weekend was called off because of the weather for the first time since the event started in 1980.
More than 300 horses had been entered for racing over the next three days. It was the largest number of entries ever.
Tregaron Trotting Club said the races would be rescheduled for September.
A statement on Tregaron Trotting Club's (TTC) website said: "Following a track inspection this morning, it is with regret that TTC have unfortunately had to take the decision to cancel the three days of racing.
"It is not possible to transfer the meeting to another venue, however the meeting may be re-scheduled to a later date in September.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding. TTC apologies for any inconvenience and/or disruption this may cause."
BBC Wales weather forecaster Derek Brockway said heavy downpours at this time of year were not unusual, with August the wettest month of the summer because of higher sea temperatures.
Anne Jenkins from Pennant near Aberaeron describes the torential rain and floods that hit the area.
This means the air is warmer and can hold more moisture.
He said the total rainfall so far in August was 60mm more than usual average for the month - 106mm.
Some rain was likely later on Saturday, with a mixed bag for the Bank Holiday overall.
"This will clear leaving Sunday bright and breezy with the odd shower. Bank Holiday Monday will be rather cloudy, breezy and mostly dry," said Mr Brockway.
"Summer may return next week and there are signs that September will bring us some good weather."
