The Kangaroo Kid's show performances draw huge crowds |
Royal Welsh Show regular the Kangaroo Kid, who thrills the crowds by jumping cars and vans on a quad bike, says this year's event will probably be his last. Australian Matt Coulter's twice-daily performances have drawn huge crowds for a decade, but he wants to take a break from touring.
The 36-year-old said he would miss nighttime singalongs and the friends he had made at the show.
Mr Coulter is to semi-retire and will perform just once in the UK next year.
From near Brisbane, he holds world records for his stunts, and has visited the show every other year for the last decade.
Some of his most audacious stunts have included jumping a paddle steamer, a RAF jet and a plane flying 3ft above the ground.

But after performing up to 62 times a year, Mr Coulter wants to take a break and concentrate on business opportunities.
"I've really enjoyed the Royal Welsh. I've made some good friends and I've enjoyed it," he said.
"I suppose the Welsh are similar to the Aussies in that they like their beer and their quad bikes. There are a lot of farmers in the Builth Wells area so quad bikes are quite familiar."
Father-of-two Mr Coulter recalled happy memories from his time at the show.

"I suppose one of the funniest moments I've had was when I had an email from a group of young farmers who asked me to look up at a tower on the show ground after I'd completed one of my jumps," he added.
"I did as they said and I could see someone holding up a score card giving me marks out of 10. It was a great moment.
"I've had other great times in the young people's village and enjoyed the singalongs over a pint."
