Gavin Pomfrey will be "mincing" at the YFC event |
A lookalike of Little Britain's Dafydd will be staking his claim as the "only gay in the village" at a young farmers' rally in Llanddewi-Brefi this weekend. Gavin Pomfret makes a living mimicking the rubber-clad star from the hit BBC show which has made the village famous.
Around 2,500 young farmers from throughout Wales will be at the Splash 2005 event in the Ceredigion village.
Organisers had hoped to get the real Dafydd - actor Matt Lucas - but could not afford his fee.
Mr Pomfret said it would be his first young farmers' event and his first visit to Llanddewi-Brefi.
Mr Pomfret, 30, from Walton on Thames, and his business partner Stuart Morrison, 34, from Guilford, claim to be the only Matt Lucas and David Walliams lookalikes in the UK.
The trained actors started their business in February and also mimic Little Britain's Lou and Andy.
Mr Pomfret was appearing on Saturday night. "I will be mincing and looking for homophobic people, and I'll evict any gayers because I'll be the only gay in the village", he joked.
"I'll be wearing a Dafydd-type costume and make up so the young farmers won't be disappointed".
The real Dafydd has made his home in the village |
Little Britain's success has meant that fans of the show have descended on the Ceredigion village in droves to be photographed next to its road signs.
The Duchess of Cornwall, who visited the village earlier this month, even confessed to being a fan.
