Ten people slept rough to raise the profile of the campaign |
Ten Welsh language campaigners calling for affordable housing in Wales have slept rough on the streets of Aberystwyth in protest. The Welsh Language Society said the current homes policy was undermining communities and the native tongue.
Signatures for a petition in support of its campaign were collected in Aberystwyth on Monday night.
Society members will move to north west Wales to hold sleeping out protests over the rest of the week.
Calling for a Property Act in Wales, they will be in Pwllheli on Tuesday night, Caernarfon on Wednesday, Ruthin on Thursday and Bala on Friday.
Society spokesman Hedd Gwynfor said the campaign for an act started in the 1980s, but a new draft was out to consultation at the moment.
"One of the main points of the act is calling for affordable housing for Welsh-speaking communities and the whole of Wales," Mr Gwynfor said.
"At the moment it's a free for all which is to the detriment of locals.
"We would like to see house prices eventually fall in line with local wages."

The society's tour began outside the Welsh Assembly Government stand at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Cardiff last Saturday.
It moved on to Llandysul, in south Ceredigion, on Sunday.
A rally will also be held on the shores of Llyn Celyn in the Tryweryn valley, near Bala, with speakers including Plaid Cymru's MP for Meirionydd Nant Conwy, Elfyn Llwyd.
